Synopsis The RAF100 commemorative album is a centrepiece publication of the RAF’s centenary celebrations, which will take place throughout 2018. A high-quality, coffee-table book, this beautifully designed and fully illustrated keepsake provides an inspiring and insightful record of the RAF’s past and present, as well as a vision of the force’s future. The RAF has played a vital role in global peace, security and humanitarian operations over the past century – a breadth of responsibilities that is reflected in the publication’s array of exclusive images, sourced from the RAF’s archives. These range from rarely seen photography of classic aircraft and their crews, to the very latest in high-tech military hardware and photographic techniques. The commemorative album also features contributions from the best RAF photographers of the past 25 years, making for a visually striking, truly one-of-a-kind publication. Written by a team of academics and industry experts, as well as former and serving RAF personnel, the book tells the compelling story of the RAF’s origins, history and present-day duties, and showcases a selection of partner organisations in the public, private and third sectors. Dedicated sections discuss areas such as education, science, Royal Charters, industry, the public sector and the third sector. As such, the publication provides the perfect opportunity for aligned organisations to highlight their progress and achievements across a range of cultural, social, technological and business spheres.
Publisher St James’s House has been appointed to mark the RAF’s milestone and herald the best of Britain and the Commonwealth with a commemorative album that is endorsed by, and in support of, the RAF100 Appeal. The end result is a unique publication, produced to the very highest of standards, that will “commemorate, celebrate and inspire”. The RAF100 Celebrations In April 2018, the RAF will mark its 100th anniversary. As one of Britain’s most revered and respected institutions, this centenary milestone will be celebrated in style throughout the year, placing the RAF firmly in the public eye. The festivities are being given the full royal treatment, with events taking place at such landmark locations as Buckingham Palace, the Mall, the Royal Albert Hall, Parliament, Speaker’s House, Guildhall and the grand reopening of the RAF Museum London – the home of British aviation history. The RAF100 programme has been planned with three principal objectives in mind: to commemorate the achievements of the RAF and its service people; to celebrate the RAF’s latter-day success stories; and to inspire the RAF and the general public with a vision for the future. The programme of events will also provide a fundraising platform for the major RAF charities: the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF Association, the RAF Museum and the RAF Charitable Trust. The RAF and those organisations affiliated with the centenary have major PR campaigns planned for the run-up to, the week of and the months that follow the centenary date.
