When I was a kid I used to go with my nana every November to the local war memorial to put a wooden cross there with the name William Walsh on it. He was my grandad's brother, he was one of many who perished on the Burma Rail. I continued honouring him after my nana died in 1973. I had to buy three of these really beautiful badges, for myself and my sisters so that we can commemorate the 80th anniversary.
